Our Huipil Shawls are all magnificent pieces of wearable art. Each one is different and very unique. This particular collection is very fashionable and will make you stand out in a crowd.
The common denominator between these cape-poncho-style shawls is that they all have the traditional Mayan huipil as a base. The Mayan huipil is a slipover shirt handmade from traditional textiles and embroidery. We have opened the huipil in the front/middle, added some beautiful details of beaded embroidery, jade, ceramic and threaded fringes, and much more.
All our Huipil Shawls have textile which is handmade and hand-embroidered by Mayan artisans in Guatemala.
The shawls are all one-size and they can be adjusted on the shoulders to put it looser or tighter. These two settings give two different looks - both amazing - see photos.
This specific huipil is from the town of Zunil in the region of Quetzaltenango. The zunil textile is usually characterized by its lined design.
We only buy the finest and most precious textile for these pieces of wearable art. We then combine the textile with our famous ceramic beads, sculptures, and jade.
