The Ceremonial Aguacatán Chest Piece collection is one of our signature designs. It’s a lightweight piece of wearable art that comes in many colors.

Each chest piece has a vintage, handmade piece of traditional textile which is used in many Mayan ceremonies and special Mayan days. The cotton textile is hand-embroidered with geometric designs. This specific type of textile is only made in the town of Aguacatán, Quetzaltenango in Guatemala (thereof the name of the collection), making this piece very precious and rare.

The textile has little spikes of ceramic beads, contributing to a unique look and feel. From the textile and down, you find our beautiful lines of ceramic beads in color variations and structures that will turn heads in any surroundings.

Size: The chest pieces are all one-size. They are easily adjusted by changing the position on the shoulder. Each piece can vary in terms of the amount of ceramic and size of textile pieces used and the (L) and (S) used in each name is just an indication of exactly this.

All our Ceremonial Aguacatán Chest Pieces are handmade from the bottom up in Guatemala by Mayan artisans.

"The Chachal"

Origin (amulets): The two alpaca medallions in this piece are ancient amulets that feature a coin in the centre. The amulets were brought from Europe to Central America during colonial time. Furthermore, the medallions depict different animals and represent good luck and protection to the people wearing them. The coins date back to the year 1600-1700 A.D.

Beads: Ceramic beads™, dyed with acrylics
